Description
If you're experiencing issues where WorkSmart stops capturing webcam screenshots after video conferencing calls (Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, etc.), this guide will help you resolve the problem quickly.
What you might notice:
- Your external webcam works fine during video calls.
- After ending a video call, WorkSmart can't capture webcam images anymore.
- Restarting WorkSmart doesn't fix the issue.
- You have to go into Device Manager to disable/enable your camera to make it work again.
This happens because some video conferencing apps don't properly release camera access when they close, preventing WorkSmart from using the camera.
Solution
Step 1: Open Windows Camera Settings
- Press Windows key + I to open Settings
- Click "Bluetooth & devices" on the left side
- Click "Cameras" from the menu
Step 2: Configure Your External Webcam
- Find your external webcam in the list and click on it
- Look for the "Advanced camera settings" section
- Find the option: "Allow multiple apps to use the camera at the same time"
- Turn this setting ON (toggle to enabled)
Step 3: Restart WorkSmart
- Close WorkSmart completely
- Open WorkSmart again
- Check that webcam screenshots are working normally
Why This Works
Enabling "Allow multiple apps to use the camera at the same time" prevents video conferencing apps from completely locking your camera. This way, WorkSmart can maintain access even after other apps finish using the camera.
Still Having Issues? Try These Additional Steps:
- Can't Find the Setting? Make sure you're using Windows 11.
- Restart your computer after enabling the camera sharing setting.
- Update your webcam drivers through Device Manager.
- Check if multiple video apps are running simultaneously.
