WorkSmart for macOS Can't be Opened

Overview

After downloading the latest version of WorkSmart for macOS, while attempting to execute the application you receive the following warning message: "Crossover can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software". This is only a warning message generated because of Mac security settings but will prevent you from launching WorkSmart.

You will need to allow the WorkSmart application under macOS Security & Privacy settings in order to execute it successfully.

Diagnosis

While trying to execute the WorkSmart installer for Mac OS you receive the warning message: "Crossover can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software":

This warning message will prevent you from continuing with the WorkSmart installation because of security measures implemented by Apple.

 

Solution

  1. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
  2. Under the General tab, click Open Anyway to confirm your intent to open Crossover app:

  3. The warning prompt reappears, and you can click Open:

    If you're prompted to open Finder: control-click the app in Finder, choose Open from the menu and then click Open in the dialog that appears. Enter your admin name and password to open the app.

 

Confirmation

You will be able to run the application and you will receive the License Agreement message:
