Focus Score

Overview

NOTE: Dual monitors do not affect the way Worksmart keeps track of a contractor's activity or focus score. This information is gathered from the active window or application the contractor has selected at the moment the minute/timecard is saved on the system, regardless of which monitor it is displaying on.

Focus is the measure of the concentration level of a contractor during a workday. This is represented in Worksmart by "streaks." A streak is 3 or more consecutive timecards showing the same activity being worked on which translates to 30 minutes (or more) of uninterrupted focus. For each streak, the contractor earns "points" with longer streaks providing a cumulative bonus.

  • A streak of 3 timecards, representing 30 minutes, earns 5 points.
  • A streak of 6 timecards, representing 1 hour, adds 10 additional points to the streak score for a total of 15.
  • A streak of 9 timecards, representing 1.5 hours, adds 15 additional points to the streak score for a total of 30.
  • A streak of 12 timecards, representing 2 hours, adds 20 additional points to the streak score for a total of 50 points.

The focus score (as a percentage) is calculated by dividing the points earned by 100. If a contractor obtains more than 100 points during the day, the score will still be 100%. For example:

  • If a contractor scored 35 points, their score will be 35%.
  • If a contractor scored 90 points, their score will be 90%
  • If a contractor scored 120 points, their score will be 100%

Example #1 (Low Score)

Let's look at an example of how a low focus score was calculated during a particular workday (the red arrows represent streaks or uninterrupted work):

The focus score points for this day were:

  • 7:20 AM - 8:00 AM: 4 card streak; 5 points.
  • 8:40 AM - 9:30 AM: 5 card streak; 5 points.
  • 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM: 3 card streak; 5 points.
  • 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM: 3 card streak; 5 points.
  • 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM: 3 card streak; 5 points.
  • 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM: 3 card streak; 5 points.
  • 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM: 3 card streak; 5 points.

Since a total of 35 points were earned, the focus score for the day was 35%.

Example #2 (High Score)

Let's take another example to show how a higher score can be achieved and how it is calculated (the red arrows represent streaks or uninterrupted work):

The focus score points for this day were:

  • 6:00 AM - 6:40 AM: 4 card streak; 5 points.
  • 7:10 AM - 7:40 AM: 3 card streak; 5 points.
  • 7:40 AM - 8:50 AM: 7 card streak; 15 points.
  • 9:20 AM - 10:50 AM: 9 card streak; 30 points.
  • 11:30 AM - 12:10 PM: 4 card streak; 5 points.
  • 12:10 PM - 12:50 PM: 4 card streak; 5 points.
  • 2:10 PM - 2:40 PM: 3 card streak; 5 points.

Since a total of 70 points were earned, the focus score for the day was 70%.

Why time window between 7:10 and 8:50 is split into 2 blocks? It looks like one 10-card streak instead of 2.

    • 7:10 AM - 7:40 AM: 3 card streak; 5 points.
    • 7:40 AM - 8:50 AM: 7 card streak; 15 points.
